The Shrine of Our Lady of Montligeon is a Marian shrine. Mary is honoured there under the title of Notre Dame Libératrice [Our Lady, the Liberator]. She is the liberator of the dead in Purgatory because she does not abandon any of her children and because her power extends to the visible world as well as to the invisible world.
She is venerated also under the titles of Our Lady of Mercy and Our Lady of Pity because she knows all the anxieties and all the sorrows of a tortured mother.
With her, every person who has been through trials can abandon himself, every broken heart can offer itself up. Mary is interested in each one of her children and no prayer leaves her indifferent. Her presence alongside her Son makes her the best advocate of human causes.
