OUR
LADY OF MONTLIGEON PRAYER GROUPS PRAYER
TO OUR LADY OF MONTLIGEON |
The Shrine of Our Lady of Montligeon is consecrated to Mary because she is mens best advocate with God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Besides, if Christians call her Our Lady, the Liberator or Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, it is because they have witnessed her powerful intercession down the ages.
At Montligeon, we invoke the Virgin Mary for all the deceased. In fact, with regard to the supernatural life of every man, Marys role is comparable to that of a mother with regard to her children during their earthly life. After death, Mary never abandons her children, especially those who are not very far from joining God. Mary contributes, then, to their purification by making them capable of being welcomed into the heavenly City. She does this all the more willingly when we ask her trustfully.
By standing at the foot of the Cross, and uniting herself with the sacrifice of her Son, Mary acquired the capacity to intercede for all men whose mother she had become. Standing permanently near the heart of the glorified Christ, she desires to see the souls still in Purgatory introduced as soon as possible into intimacy with God.
OUR
LADY OF MONTLIGEON PRAYER GROUPS
The associates
of the Work of Our Lady of Montligeon have the task of praying for the dead,
especially those most forgotten, and they invoke Our Lady, the liberator,
on their behalf, in union with all the pilgrims who pass through the Shrine
in the course of the year.
Their life of prayer must take practical form by involvement, at parish or
diocesan level, in a fuller service of the Church. All spiritual life, in
fact, entails this availability to the poorest people : the sick, the excluded,
strangers
If you already pray to Our Lady but wish to do so with others, you can join
an Our Lady of Montligeon Prayer Group. Three elements are essential in these
groups : the Rosary, which can be prayed wholly or in part; a text from the
Bible which is meditated together or privately and shared prayer intentions.
Each group has its own pattern : monthly, for those with professional or family
responsibilities; weekly, for those who are more available. These groups generally
meet at one anothers homes but can also use a chapel or parish room.
If you wish to start an Our Lady of Montligeon Prayer Group, it is essential to be linked with the Shrine.
