THE
CENTENARY CONFERENCE :
THE 1997 CONFERENCE
From 13 to 16 November 1997,a little more than a hundred years after the blessing
of the foundation stone of the basilica, in 1896, the Shrine of Our Lady of
Montligeon organised a conference on the theme “Man and his eternity”.
220 People took part, mostly lay-people and priests engaged in pastoral work
in Health or Bereavement counselling.
To speak about our last end might appear paradoxical at a time when people, even some Christians, seek to make death an occult affair; but it still remains essential, too, to provide sound answers to questions about suffering, sickness, bereavement and the next world…
The Shrine, faithful to its vocation, wished to deepen research on Life after death, from a Christian perspective and using appropriate methods of communication.
